
Pejman Taheri, born on 1970 in Gorgan, Iran, musician, composer, researcher and santour (dulcimer) player.
At the age of 7, he started playing Santour with Javad Davari, and learned Mirza Abdullah's Radif with Majid Kiani.
After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University, Pejman Taheri turned to professional activity in the field of composition and band playing and has led the Iranian band that he founded in the same student years with his brother, Ardvan Taheri, until today.
He continued his studies in 2003 in the city of Vienna in Austria in the field of Electroacoustic composition, and then he wrote his doctoral dissertation in the Ethnomusicology PhD under the supervision of Prof.Gerlinde Haid and Dr.Rüdiger Lohlker at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts.
In 1996, Taheri became a member of Sheyda Group, and performed numerous concerts with Mohammad Reza Lotfi in Paris, London, Zurich, Munich, Venice, and Florence.
Some of Taheri’s most noted compositions are: "Risheh Dar Khak" with Mahsa Vahdat, “Sugvaran-e-Khamush” with Alireza Ghorbani, “Amirkabir” Shahram Nazeri, “Arash-e-Kamangir” with Shahram Nazeri and Qutbuddin Sadeghi.
